Dusan Zikic started his career as an IT auditor 8 years ago, after graduating from college. He was influenced by 3 mentors who had a positive impact on his professional and personal development and introduced him to ISACA® certifications, including Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA®). “They all are CISA-certified so for me, it was completely logical to follow that path,” Zikic said. After thoroughly preparing, he passed the CISA exam in December 2015. Following CISA, he decided to earn his Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control® (CRISC®) certification, which he thought complemented CISA by giving another perspective on similar topics—an IT risk and internal control practitioner point of view.
Zikic says the best part of his job is being able to make positive changes in the enterprise. “Bringing a new perspective and approach to everyday work activities and positively influencing my coworkers makes me feel happier and inspires me to be even better,” Zikic said. The biggest challenge he faces is staying up-to-date with IT innovation and emerging technologies. Zikic believes ISACA certifications meet that challenge by building solid foundations of knowledge. “ISACA always offers up-to-date information and research, so it makes keeping up easier,” he said.
Zikic says ISACA certification has also made a positive impact on him personally. “It was the reason I made a couple of friends for life. Those friendships started by sharing my experience and advice on passing the certification exams,” he said. “Knowing that I have positively influenced other people’s lives is a great reward for me.”
