Professionals working in digital trust fields can grab a head start on pinpointing key 2024 priorities through a new ISACA blog series.

In a series of posts this week on the ISACA Now blog, ISACA experts have created 2024 to-do lists in each of five digital trust disciplines: IT audit, risk management, information security, privacy and IT governance.

On the risk management front, blog author Mary Carmichael said becoming more proficient at analyzing data sets in the new year would bode well for practitioners.

“Risk managers are required to navigate through vast amounts of information and use data analytics to identify, assess and manage risks,” Carmichael writes in her blog post. “Their ability to analyze extensive data sets is not just a valuable skill; it is a critical element in identifying emerging risks. Imagine risk professionals using data analytics to uncover a cybersecurity breach within a company. This discovery prompts the implementation of stronger controls, strengthening the organization’s security posture.”

Guy Pearce, who authored the governance post, emphasizes the need to formalize data governance frameworks.

“How organizations manage our data in their data lifecycle can impact us positively by the provision of goods and services, and negatively by data breaches or using our data without consent,” Pearce writes. “Evolving those data governance frameworks and management structures is essential for building and maintaining our trust.”

In her 2024 to-do list blog post for IT auditors, Veronica Rose, past ISACA board director, writes about how emerging technologies can present new opportunities for auditors.

“Show the ability to apply fresh thinking to existing best practices to tackle emerging issues, especially when making audit recommendations to address new realities,” Rose writes.
